Tillandsia Velutina has leaves that are soft and grow upwards. It's color changes different shades of green throughout it's lifetime, and will turn blush mauve as it matures, and yellow and pink leaves sometimes when it blooms. When blooming, Velutina produces the most vibrant red flower. The base of the plant can develop a brown coloring which isn't an indication of health.
Air Plant Care: This air plant likes a good amount of bright indirect sunlight, and some early morning or late day direct sun. It likes to be misted or dunked at least 3 times a week, and soaked for an hour once a week. Make sure to shake excess water off of plants or dry upside down before putting back in holders so that water doesn't accumulate in their bases.
